I still feel honored when I am asked to perform, either music or words. I feel affirmed, invited at a deep level, to show up and share something hidden deep inside that can only emerge when others are present. My goal is to incite the energy of those present to come join me as we play in the field Rumi immortalized:
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

I play violin and clarinet with Huzzah, a swing band with strings and horns that plays early jazz and Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grapelli inspired tunes.

Bulltown Strutters
I play clarinet and lead the Bulltown Strutters, a large New Orleans influenced brass band in Durham NC, which I started in 2010. We bring the joy of a New Orleans second line parade, inspiring folks to sing along and dance, whether we play on stage or in the streets.

Bulltown Strutters lead Cary’s “Under the Silver Moon Lantern Parade” starting from the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Ave, Cary, NC 27513 and going to the Great Lawn, where there will be drumming and fire dancing.
9 December 2023, Huzzah at Succotash Southern & Creole Restaurant, 3219 Old Chapel Hill Rd, Ste. 200 Durham, NC 27707. Dancing broke out amongst the tables.
5 November 2023, Bulltown Strutters at the 8th Annual Death Faire
We play a mock New Orleans Jazz Funeral at Sanctuary of the Burrow, a conservation burial ground at 4479 Moncure Pittsboro Road Moncure, NC 27559. After a graveside ceremony, we lead a procession up the gravel road to a potluck.
21 October 2023, Huzzah plays for the Triangle Swing Dance Society, keeping a large room of dancers at it all night in the historic Murphey School, near Hillsborough NC.
